Wow, what a long time!

Asalamu alaikum,

Literally like three years?!?!

You sometimes get caught up in life and stuff falls by the wayside, I think that for me part of it is moving back state side. Life is a little busier, I have two boys now and we are starting to get to the age of school, activities and all that.

So major news, we went to Abu Dhabi and I worked as a teacher for a while at a lovely school with some awesome people. It was a very interesting experience and I miss the people I worked with. We finally ended up back to the states as Tariq's immigration paper work was approved and visa granted. We came back and are now living with my parents, so we went from one joined family to another! My parents love having the boys around(though as with all young kids there are some moments ;-)

We had a whole snafu with the green card,  shortly after moving back here my dad bought a house and even though I had changed our address on the USCIS website and with the post office they sent it to the old address! We checked and the new tenant and the building manager claimed to have never seen it, but USCIS didn't get it back, so I think it much more likely that someone trashed it and just didn't want to own up. We called to find out what to do and they said to apply for a replacement card and pay all the fees again, even though we never received it. Eventually they refunded the fee and we waited....and waited....FOR OVER A YEAR... and the whole time they kept telling us it was just "in process." We asked our congressman to inquire and they heard the same thing. Finally it arrived, and it only took 14 months. Crazy!

So here we are in the states. We did go back to Pakistan for a visit last summer because one of my SILs got married, so that was exciting. Saif came back thinking that any new clothes that he received or any new toy or the best stuff only came from Pakistan. He loved it, and was old enough to understand the differences and to appreciated them a bit.

I have been working on lots of projects, personal projects and not so personal. I have published a couple new patterns, and restarted my eBay ventures. We have a nice yard now, so we have been working on a garden. The boys love it, especially the pick and eat concept!

Hopefully I can blog a bit more, even if it never gets back to being very regular!

Hullo again! Ugh, I'm told green card stuff can be a nightmare. It sounds like they deliberately make it hard to do, and there's so much bureaucracy the system collapses on itself. (My best friend's wife is here on a green card, too, as is another good friend of mine.)
